Vancouver bluesers : Blues4ever on Twitter
blues, news and local do's

A stubby Wiki list of Canadian Blues Societies

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Canadian_blues_societies

If you've got more, you can add 'em there.
We're all in the blues together.

New digs, new gigs.

I'm back on the coast.
Mountains, ocean, earthquakes, music connections, and I'm trying something new.
I'm gonna give you urls to go to, and see if you like what's there. First, I'll have to find the urls, and then I'll put 'em up here, and you can have at 'em, and do unto 'em what thou wilst.
It's an experiment I know will work ,because I want it to, like the solo in that picture apparently did.

...and in the beginning.

So, here I am, sitting at the computer, barely warmed against the chaotic winter that seems pretty much a year 'round event in Alberta, doing nothing, 'cept screwing around on it.
I ask myself 'what'd be a decent blog to foist up on an unsuspecting world? What does pretty much every one prod their senses with, when boredom challenges their sanity?

TV? 14 minutes of programming between advertisements about things I don't want to buy?
Nah.
Done to death: paparazzi'd by fan sites, TVGuide online, every channel on the air having its own website for anybody to struggle through to find out what's on, and a gazillion other TV resources
that all cater to the merest of whimsical notions of the legions of TV watchers.

Video games?
Nope.
I mean, they're an ultra popular entertainment, but again, done to within millimeters of malignant web domination by tenth level warriors and wizards, gnomes, elves and uber-geeks.
'Sides that, I don't know anything about 'em. I play a couple of types of solitaire, and 'Poppit' on the Pogo site, at the logically challenged level, which involves using an invisible pin, or maybe a lit cigarette, or a tyrannosaurus rex, with a rubber snacking fetish, to pop consecutive coloured lines of balloons.
Nuh uh..Can't talk about what you know nothing.
It's not like U.S. politics.

uuuh...Cooking?
Nope.I might be a moderately creative 'fry-panner', but I'd never
compromise myself so significantly by calling myself a cook.

Music?
Hmm... I don't know anybody who can't at least play the radio, and I DO know how to play piano competently, both in and out of bands,
and I LIKE doing it.
The worst night on stage is 10 times more fun than the best day at the office, or slogging through a daily grind at some labour gig, Monday to Friday for eight hours,or more.
So , yeah yeah yeah, music's the theme(so to speak)of this here blog.
Talk to me(or sing), about anything musical. Music IS a creative process, that involves a seething whack of folks in a gaxabajillion different facets of it.
I write and play it.
My forte is playing blues, but I can't seem to write it.
I'm not wise enough, it appears, to recognize that simplicity is what makes most popular songs work.
I end up writing ballads, rock , and some things resembling jazz( a genre in which my ability to play is magnificently clumsy).

But, as a guy who doesn't know everything there is to know about music, I have a site, which I plunked a forever link on my computer desktop for, which is the most comprehensive music resource I've ever found. It has decades of study, and performance links on it, all compiled by one guy , I think.
As far as I'm concerned, it's a work of genius, and I consider myself lucky, beyond all lotto-type wins, or casino scams, to have found it.
This is the site:

Take a gander at it. It's got a lot of stuff there to inspire you.

That's it for today. It's a start.

Thanks for paying attention.
